What You Can Look Forward to:

Five days filled with calligraphy and other carefully curated creative exercises through which you will bring your calligraphy skills up to the next level. Moment of meditative writing and moment of bold experimenting. You will get acquainted with different calligraphy tools, learn the rules of composition, and the importance of rythm and contrast, and how to work with colours. You will play around with letters, transform their shapes, and compose them into words, sentences and pictures. We will base our work on Italics – beginners will explore the basic version of this script while advanced students will focus on the more complicated versions.

You will learn how to make a cola-pen and use it in multiple ways. If only for a short time, you will leave behind ideas of what “correct” and “beautiful” calligraphy should look like, and let your fantasy roam freely.

During the calligraphy course you will relish a focused silence, your body and soul benefitting from writing calligraphy and creating with your own hands. You will foster your creative skills and at the end of the course take your artwork home with you, to inspire you in your next artistic endeavours.

Course Length: 30 hours (60 min/hour). The course will take place 10AM – 1PM and 2:15PM – 5:15PM.

The lunch break is shorter in order to allow attendees from Prague to catch the return train from Kutná Hora – město at 17:46. We can adjust the lunch break length according to attendees’ preferences.

Level: The calligraphy course is suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced. The number of participants is limited so that the instructor can pay attention to everybody individually. This allows everyone to progress at their own pace and focus on what fulfills them the most.

Course Fee: CZK 7,500. The price includes 30 hours taught by Veronika Wuycheck, and all the necessary materials and tools. You will be able to take the calligraphy tools home to continue practising calligraphy.

Accomodation: Arranging accomodation is up to the participants, according to their needs and preferences.

Language: This course is taught primarily in Czech, instructions can be given in English if necessary.

Registration: The registration form is available for download here. Please fill it in and email it to info@kaligrafnika.com, along with any additional questions. You will receive a confirmation and invoice within 24 hours. Detailed instructions will be sent to your email before the start of the course.

Payment Terms: The participant has their place in the course reserved for 14 days after their registration is confirmed and the invoice sent. It is necessary to pay the course fee in full, via bank transfer by its due date.

Cancellation Terms:

If participation is cancelled before 30 June 2024, the course fee (CZK 7,500) will be refunded in full.

If participation is cancelled by 24 July 2024, CZK 4,000 will be refunded.

If participation is cancelled on 25 July 2024 or later, the course fee (CZK 7,500) is non-refundable.

The course fee will be reimbursed within 14 days from after a note of cancellation sent to info@kaligrafnika.com. No other form of cancellation will be accepted.

You may send somebody instead of you, if you cannot attend yourself – please let me know before the course starts.
